Energy Audit

Energy = discretionary effort = productivity

What impacts your energy & productivity at work?

Here are 20 questions about you and your organization - and 20 examples of what we do.

Please use a 1-5 scale (1, low; 5, high).

Thinking

1) Purpose: I admire the organization's purpose and know that my work makes an important contribution.
2) Priorities: I know what's important to succeed here, both in terms of behaviors and results. I'm challenged and committed to my goals.
3) New ideas: I know how to shift gears and think about old problems in new ways.
4) Resilience: When faced with obstacles, setbacks, and disappointments, I quickly regain momentum and persist.
5) Composure: I stay calm when dealing with challenging events, situations and people.
6) Recharge: I use a variety of healthy techniques to renew my mental energy and focus throughout the day.
7) Self-knowledge: I seek information about my strengths, limitations, and opportunities for development.
8) Learning: I feel intellectually engaged with my job. This organization is a great place to learn and grow.

Communication

9) Dialogue: I value dialogue. I seek out and actively listen to different perspectives and new ideas.
10) Conflict & collaboration: In the midst of problems or disagreements, I treat others with respect and look for ways to collaborate.
11) Difficult conversations: I know how to open, advance and resolve difficult conversations.
12) Meetings: At meetings, the purpose and process match. "Tell" meetings are fast and focused. "Discuss" meetings are lively and interactive.
13) Information: I give - and receive - the right amount of information. When communicating details, I'm clear about the main message and can quickly get to the point.
14) Making Presentations: I design and deliver presentations that capture audience attention and lead to action.

Leadership Communication

15) Commitment: I communicate about the organization (e.g. its direction, values, policies) through words and actions that increase others' commitment.
16) Decision-making: I know which decisions need the involvement of others, and which don't, and vary my communication style accordingly.
17) Team: I work to develop a team that communicates effectively together, and achieves great results.
18) Standards: I set high standards and model goal persistence.
19) Coaching: I look for coachable moments to improve motivation and performance.
20) Feedback: I give frequent feedback that tilts towards the positive, and also addresses the negative.

Your Score

Scores are subjective of course, but consider:

90-100: Very good.

80-89: Good.

70-79: Not so good.

60-69: No need to panic - yet.

20-59: Uh-oh.

Here's the key question, regardless of score: What deserves attention?

We'd be delighted to discuss that with you.
